Calix GigaSpire is the Wi-Fi system line that ISPs place in subscriber homes. The model names look like a code, with labels such as u4, u6.2, u6x and 7u10t.2. However, each part of the name tells you something, so the range is easy to sort once you know the pattern.
This guide decodes every Calix GigaSpire model we supply and matches it to its GS or GM model number. It also covers the older GigaHub 812G-1 gateway. Silverback supplies new and used units, tested before they ship.
How to read Calix GigaSpire model names
Calix sells GigaSpire as Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 systems. You can also see the current range on the official Calix site. Across the models in this guide, a few patterns hold:
- A name that starts with 7, such as 7u10t.2, marks a Wi-Fi 7 system, while the rest are Wi-Fi 6.
- An m in the name, such as u4m, marks a mesh satellite.
- GS model numbers are main systems, whereas GM model numbers are mesh satellites.
- In this list, the x models (u6x, u6xw and u6txg) all have a fiber ready WAN.
Still, the part number is the safest reference. So always check the 100- number on the label before you order.
Entry Calix GigaSpire models: u4 and u4.2
For example, the BLAST u4, 100-05493, is a Wi-Fi 6 router with model number GS2028E. Meanwhile, the u4.2, 100-06034, is a dual band 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 system, model GS2029E. It also adds a 2.5GE WAN port and a 2.5GE LAN port, so it suits faster fiber plans.
Mid range models: u6.1, u6.2 and u6.3
Overall, the u6 family covers most homes. For instance, the BLAST u6.1, 100-05413, is model GS4220E with a GE WAN port and four GE LAN ports. In contrast, the BLAST u6.2, 100-05415, is a dual band smart home system, model GS4227E.
Meanwhile, the newer u6.3, 100-06062, is model GS4229E. It has a 2.5GE WAN port as well as a 2.5GE LAN port and four GE LAN ports. In addition, it has two POTS lines and USB, so it can handle home phone service too.
Fiber ready Calix GigaSpire models
These models connect straight to fiber or to a 10G handoff, so they suit fiber to the home builds. For example, the BLAST u6x, 100-05603, is model GS4227 with an SFP+ WAN port. It also has four GE LAN ports, two POTS and USB.
Similarly, the u6xw, 100-05613, is model GS4227W with an SFP+ WAN, four GE LAN ports and two POTS. In both cases, the SFP+ WAN takes a PON stick, such as the GPON ONT SFP 100-05609 or the XGS-PON ONT SFP+ 100-05610. As a result, one box acts as both ONT and router.
u6t and u6txg
The BLAST u6t, 100-05921, is model GS5229E. It has a 10GE WAN, a 10GE LAN port and four GE LAN ports, as well as two POTS and USB. It can also serve as a router or a mesh unit.
Finally, the u6txg, 100-05930, is model GS5229XG. Because it has an integrated XGS-PON WAN, it needs no separate ONT at all.
A note on the u10xe
Part 100-05677 appears as the BLAST u10xe, model GS4237. However, one source labels the same part as a u6x. So confirm the model number on the label when you order it.
Calix GigaSpire mesh satellites
Mesh satellites extend coverage when one Calix GigaSpire router cannot reach every room. For example, the BLAST u4m, 100-05494, is model GM1028. For yards and patios, the u4hm, 100-05839, is model GM1028H, a hardened outdoor unit that runs on PoE or local power.
Wi-Fi 7 GigaSpire systems
The BLAST 7u10t.2, 100-06138, is a tri band Wi-Fi 7 system, model GS4139E. In addition, the 7u6m, 100-06149, is a tri band multi-gig Wi-Fi 7 mesh satellite. Its model number is GM2038, and Calix aims it at larger homes.
GigaHub 812G-1 gateway
Before GigaSpire, many homes used the GigaHub 812G-1, 100-04257. It is a residential gateway with four GE ports and two POTS lines, and its HECI code is BVMC500ARB. Spares help when you want a like for like swap instead of a full upgrade.

New vs used, buyback and data wipes
A new Calix GigaSpire system makes sense for large rollouts. Still, used units cost less for repairs and churn swaps. That is why Silverback tests every unit before it ships, and you can ask for new or used condition.
Home routers can also store Wi-Fi passwords and settings. So when you retire them, Silverback buys back retired gear and offers certified data destruction backed by R2v3, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Besides this guide, our GigaPoint ONT guide and the Calix buyer's guide cover the rest of the range. You can also browse the full inventory or request pricing for a Wi-Fi order.
